The Importance of a GREAT morning routine


 Every day is a blank page…an opportunity to step forward and create your imprint on the world, to build and add to your legacy….to offer love, friendship and creativity to this beautiful world that we live in….
Now…how about that for an opening….. I think I need to leave this article for a bit as the beautiful world awaits…..legacy be mine….
Ok, I’m back….
Alright…..the morning….such an important part of the day for our health and happiness…..from a mind, body and spiritual perspective. An opportunity to get the ball rolling in the right direction…..hydration, nourishment, focus, fun and a clear head.
Wake up with a grumpy head in my house and you will get it knocked out……umm….I mean guided back into a positive outlook….with a smile.
The morning, the clean page, the fresh start…..time to set the tone and establish a pattern for the rest of the day….at very worst make the first few steps positive ones towards a great day ahead….obviously things can get out of our control at times….but before they do….at least make a big effort at setting the tone and taking charge…..this is when willpower is at its highest, obstacles have not yet appeared and the power is with us….
Allocate some time to think about and set out a great morning routine designed just for you…. start gentle and easy and as you master build it up….get better and better and better until you have it nailed….bulletproof routines all round….
What is involved? Think about hydration….that’s a key… Movement? Will you workout…..walk, yoga, some push ups, bike? Fun? Something to make you smile? Focus? Where is your day going? Or are you just going to lie back and let sh*t happen to you…..bugger that. Nourishment? Food for the body and the mind and the soul…what will you choose.
Make it fun, turn it in to a little evolving game with yourself…..what can I tweak? What can I add in? Exchange this for that…how can I build on what I have established….
To give you an idea….and feel free to borrow or steal…..here is my current routine…..no doubt it will change in a couple of months…..

  • Yep, I’m an early riser…..alarm at 5am…..and straight up…none of this sleep button caper….straight up…
  • Shower for 3-5 to freshen up and gather my composure with probably a little pep talk in my head
  • Apple Cider Vinegar, Colloidal Minerals, Chlorophyll and Spring Water to kick it off…
  • In the car….with some good energy songs…..
  • Gym time…nice ritual….open things up, lights and fans on, music and timer on….
  • Karmony Facebook status update to either set the tone for the day or at least release the thought from my head (yeah, I know….wired a little differently….but I’m good with that)….sets the mind off in the right place
  • Map out the list of tasks for the day and the priorities….
  • Create the playlist….yep, that’s important for me….of course..
  • If time….at least a bit of movement to clear the lungs and set the tone
  • At least 600ml to 1 litre of spring water
  • Session on…. then it’s food and these days….coffee time.
  • If it’s a ‘cruisier’ day I tend to stick to a good smoothie
  • If it’s a banger….a “Go Psycho!” day or I’m just feeling the need…then it’s a solid food breakfast…
  • Then time for the kids….

Ticks all the boxes for me…..and I have built up to that.
I still recall the days of nutra grain and coco pops that’s for sure…..but I do not miss them….
